Hand forged,10" tall, standing Passion Cross by Guadalupe Hermosillo Escobar. He is the foremost expert in hand forged metalwork in the state of Chiapas. His crosses are full of symbolism taken from both Christian and Indigenous beliefs. His techniques can be traced back to the Spaniards during the 1500s. Two symbols depicted in his works include the ladder and scale. The ladder represents the ladder which was used to lower Jesus from the cross. The scale refers to justice, specifically on judgement day.
